Construction Details:

This costume was almost a year in the making (but to be fair I took a long break during the summer to have some fun). It's creation is somewhat unique and new to the world of costuming. I first modeled the armor in a 3D modeling program. I had a mock human inside the program that closely resembled my measurements. Once the armor was to my liking I began printing each piece with a 3D printer. The parts are printed in ABS plastic making them very light and easy to work with. After the part was printed I coated it with ABS glue and sanded it down to a smooth finish (the printer only has so much resolution leaving a rough initial part). After that I primed, painted and clear coated each part. The weaving was created by fusing together two pieces of Ultrasuede to get an even nap and then weaving them together. The stripes and accents were designed in Photoshop and then printed on laser water decal paper. I then simply cut them out and applied them to the armor.
