Strategies to make retro card games more engaging for young people.

I’ve been trying to get my younger cousins into card games but they’re way more interested in video games and TikTok. Anyone got good ideas for making old-school card games fun for the younger crowd? Feels like a challenge!

Totally get where you’re coming from! I had a similar situation with my niece and nephew. I found that adding little rewards or silly penalties for losing makes things way more exciting for them. There’s also this article, https://www.rvcj.com/nostalgia-how-retr ... n-designs/, that suggests mixing classic rules with modern twists, like incorporating some music or creating a tournament bracket. We even let the kids make up their own rules sometimes, which they love. Turning it into a mini-event, with snacks and maybe a small prize, keeps everyone engaged.

Kids these days have so many distractions, but I’ve noticed they do get into it if there’s a competitive element. Making it into a team game or keeping score on a whiteboard helps, too.
