Zero and MegamanX costumes

Yup, I really wanted to have an huge challenge this year. I want to make Zero's black armor for me and Megaman X for my boyfriend. (picture displayed at the end of this post)
My main problem is Zero helmet. I've done it with paper and hard board. I got the round looking. All is ok but i dunno how I can make the "wings" on the side of his helmet. I know how to do them but, they are connected to each others...that's my main problem. For Megaman... my problem is the "buster" (you know the weapon he got on his arm..). I would like to have some good idea that aren't very expensive,please.
