Hair question!

Post by Hemuloki-sama » Tue Feb 01, 2005 9:52 am

I know a lot about wigs but I'm clueless about dying real hair and how some of it works for the most part.

Anyway, if someone has relaxed hair can they also dye it? I've heard from many sources that it will damage the hair or make it fall out!

Hair dye is chemicles. Nearly any chemicle can cause damage, includeing some Shampoo (If used too much)

Temp dye would be your best bet for it doesn't absorb into the folicles. a nice hint that modles and other shows do is mix a lighter color hair dye in the shampoo and wash. It makes your hair a fake shine, this isn't too risky with week hair.

My hair isn't weak as much as it has a different chemical in it from relaxing. I've heard that those chemicals don't mix well with bleaching.

Temperary dye isn't even an option since I don't want it to be temperary.

I think you'll just have to read the labels at the store. They may even have some dyes specially formulated for relaxed hair. Look for words like gentle or ammonia-free. Actually, now that I think about it, my mom dyes her hair regularly, and she has a perm. Her hair isn't brittle, frayed, or any of those other bad things associated with over-processed hair.

Okay! Thanks for the advice, Mrs. Tomoe. I'll look into that when I go for it!
