How to make Sailor Moon's Crescent Moon Wand?

Hey there everyone,
I have been asking people around on how to make Sailor Moon's Crescent Moon Wand. I found a tutorial on cosplay.com but the person used PVC piping and I would like something a bit more sturdy and durable. Could anyone give me any suggestions on how to make the wand, I would greatly appreaicate it. Thank you!

You could instead use a dowel rod. PVC is really durable though. It's what I used to make Eternal moon's staff.
