About this Costume
Construction Details:
The body suit was pretty straight forward - a good, four-way stretch lyrca worked great. The belt buckle was made by sculpting foam and then coating it in plaster. It's super light, but still pretty durable (clumsy me has dropped it....a few times). The shoes were a really fun part for me, and probably the hardest. I ordered a sheet of rubber soling from a cobbler supplier and cut out my sole shape using a good fitting pair of shoes as a guide. I then made a pattern for the "sock" of the shoe and made that out of the thicker lycra. At the bottom of the sock part, i used a really thick interfacing to give it shape. Then, it was just a matter of attaching the sole to the sock, and inserting an insole so I could walk around cons in these. They are actually really comfortable and surprisingly durable.
Personal Thoughts:
I've always loved Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat, and this costume has been super fun to wear every time.
