About this Costume
Construction Details:
The hardest part was probably the skirt, because even though it wasn't "accurate" per se (aka not actually pleated) it was still the first thing I'd ever made with a pattern, so of course it gave me trouble. I had to add in an extra panel because I cut them too small, for example. And then of course the skirt pattern just made me nervous because of how complicated it is. I drew it first in pencil, then went over it in gel pen (to make it easier to see) then finally did it in fabric paint. At the first con I wore it to, somebody actually asked me if I hand-embroidered it... *shudder* God no, I don't have that kind of patience!! haha.

The wrap was the easiest thing ever. The obi was a bit tougher, but I managed. I used a bunch of Prismacolor markers and some of my sister's fabric pens for the design. The bow is cardboard covered in fabric...but it looks really bad so I want to remake it.

The sleeves still bug me. I didn't finish the edges (come ON, younger me, what were you thinking?!) so they look really bad, and the blue tie things were elastic colored with marker, ick. But I'm happy with how the gradient dye turned out, at least.
Personal Thoughts:
This was my very first "real" cosplay costume. I started it four years ago, and I've been editing/improving it since then. I'm very, very proud of it...though I know there are some little bits and pieces that could be improved... For example, I’d like to remake the skirt, since when I made it I didn’t know how to do pleats.

Anyway, I just bought myself a wig for this, so maybe that'll be the encouragement I need to remake it!!
