About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
All the blue fabric was $1.99/yard from the $1.99 a Yard fabric store in Auburn, MA (yes, that's really the name of it). It's lined with red poplin (left over from Emeraldas), and edged in yellow bias tape. I modified a jacket pattern for the top, and used a pattern for gaucho pants for the chaps. The shorts are made from black spandex. The belt is made from black rib knit and craft foam. My mom made my hat for me, using a cheap sailor hat from IParty as a base and pattern. The microphone is made from a thick cardboard tube, woven ribbon, and craft foam. I set everything with modge podge, painted it gold, then coated it in sparkly modge podge.
- Personal Thoughts:
- When I debuted this costume at Arisia, I ended up packing two knee high boots - one brown one black. It was two hours before the masquerade that I noticed this. I ended up using my mid-calf Rose Tyler boots as a last resort. It worked, and when I packed this for PortCon, I checked three times to make sure I had both black boots.
