Construction Details:

Bellatrix was actually the first costume that I made completely on my own. I patterned the dress myself, using my knowledge on how a dress is put together to draw my own pattern and then cut out the fabric. The fabric itself is just black cotton, but the overlay was a black fabric that is see through, but had natural darts in it that worked perfectly for the effect I was looking for. (I wish I could remember what the fabric was called) Though its not easy to see in the photo’s, before adding the overlay I embroidered the bottom and bust of the dress to match the movie version of Bellatrix’s outfit, a process that was so painstakingly annoying! It was my first time really embroidering so it doesn’t look nearly as good as I wanted, so I’m kind of glad the overlay covers it up a lot. The gloves were made with the same fabric as the dress, and I corset laced them with black ribbon to keep them on. The necklace was molded out of clay and then painted myself. The white hair of the wig had to be wefted in, which was a pain but after styling the wig looked pretty good. Shoes and Corset I bought since I have absolutely no clue yet how to go about making them.
