About this Costume
Construction Details:
I used a basic kimono pattern from Simplicity, which I wound up altering a bit since it was originally meant to have lining, since a kimono is a winter garment. I had a bit of trouble getting the cotton to lay right. I would have preferred to get a fabric with more of a blend, but this was the most accurate color~ The yellow is a heavy bottomweight that was originally a much brighter yellow, that I dyed to be darker.

The flowers are all made out of appliqued cotton, and I painted the centers them the gradient look. All blue lines were painted on.

I made the Saber Lion mask by vectoring the shapes in Adobe Illustrator, then printing them out, and used an exacto blade to cut out the pieces to make patterns. Everything is just foamie/craft foam that I hot glued together, and then used a heat gun and a shallow bowl to give it a curve. My roommate made my fake candy apple for me, and I made the kinchaku (purse) for myself, and also made them for some of my other friends in the group (Ilya, Rider, and Gilgamesh). I used the same fabric I used for the obi, to better match my outfit~
Personal Thoughts:
I really love the Fate/Stay Night yukata figures made by FREEing http://img.amiami.jp/images/product/review/141/FIGURE-004424_05.jpg and wanted to make the Saber. I was lucky to have an awesome group of Fate friends to join in with me (with special love and thanks to the adorable Zipchan, who helped immensely in organizing everything)~
