About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was pretty straightforward and constructed with minimal cost/effort. I made cat ears and a tail out of fur (the ears attach with bobby pins to the craft foam bases). I hand-molded the necklace out of stone clay, then sanded it smooth and spray-painted it to attach to leather cording. The horn covers were hand-cut from craft foam, spray painted individually, and accented with screw-top brads to give the illusion of metal. I found a sweater, wore a labcoat, jeans, and sandals I already owned, borrowed a pair of black suspenders and the glasses from Artie, and wore red contacts to match the extra eyes drawn on my forehead.
- Personal Thoughts:
- AHHH, I love Shader so much! Chrono Crusade is my favorite manga, and aside from Rosette and Chrono I've always wanted to rep one of my lesser-known favorite characters (we're reaching critical-mass obscurity here, especially since the manga had its 10-year anniversary a while ago). I remember being so confused why there was a random catgirl in a steampunk 1920's adventure manga, aside from Moriyama's affection for neko girls, but she quickly proved herself a really adorable anti-hero as opposed to a villain. I loved her mommying of Joshua and Azmaria and her overall stance as a demon who believed in the not-so-nice cause they were aiming for, but didn't want to make too many enemies along the way if she didn't have to. I really adore her.
