About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I don't remember a lot about the construction of this outfit. The fabrics all came from Fields Fabrics, probably the clearance piles since they're always the best. I went for more natural, textured fabrics, both of which are a bit heavier than average. The belt and wrist/ankle wraps are a heavy pleather, and I also made a small pouch out of the leftovers to wear on the belt -- it seemed like something Toph might have, and I needed somewhere to put my phone and money!
Right now I wear flip flops painted skin-tone color, but after looking at ASIHTB's recent Jack Frost cosplay, I think I'm going to have to try out that technique. - Personal Thoughts:
- My first cosplay ever. I hope I never have to retire this outfit, as it's comfy, fun to wear, and holds a special place in my heart.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- ...really, ACP? Did you really just eat my whole wig-styling description? Aaanyway, this is a costume shop wig, and I'm honestly amazed at how well it has stayed together given its poor quality. It was originally in pig tails and meant to be a "goth girl" wig; I took the pigtails out, adjusted the bangs, and then did the GIANT BUN OF DOOOM!! For that I took a long piece of wire, folded it in half, and then sandwiched the ends of the hair between the pieces and rolled them up into the bun. It actually looks really nice when I get it right, but I usually have to do it over and over before I'm happy with the result, then load it with bobby pins and hope it'll last more than two wears this time around. :P
