About this Costume
Construction Details:
I LOVE Lethe and Lyre! They're so cute, and a great subtle mixture of spicy (Lethe) and sweet (Lyre), I was thrilled when Yashuntafun asked if I'd like to do the kitties with her!

The ears and tail are made from a burnt orange minky fabric, with an ivory cuddle fleece for the insides of the ears. The wig is a short with with a clip-on ponytail, which I braided.

The choker, gloves, and bodice are made from a dark rose colored suede that Yashuntafun had hanging out in her stash, and she was nice enough to let me use it for Lyre! I patterned out the bodice from scratch by altering a dress pattern I had that included lots of panels for a closer fit. The bust of the bodice is made from ivory ponte roma. Originally, I was going to do the bust part out of suede as well, but it didn't look or fit right, and the ponte roma was much more comfortable, and added in some extra texture. The black borders are all hand-made from black suede. The bodice is fully lined and zips up the back.

The rainbow tail on the back of the choker is made from a spray-dyed strip of stretch poplin. I mixed each color of the rainbow in water and acrylics, and then just sprayed away until I had the look and blend I wanted. The bought a pendant from the craft store, pried and popped off all the rhinestones, replaced them with smooth hot glue dots, and then repainted and weathered the entire thing.

The shorts were patterned from my base shorts/pants pattern, and zip up the back. they're made from cotton sateen and are fully lined.

The thigh and wrist belts are made from matching teal colored vinyl from JoAnn.

I love this outfit so much, I'm really glad we cosplayed Lyre and Lethe together! I can't wait to wear it again with my 'big sis'!
