About this Costume
Construction Details:
This costume was my first attempt at sewing spandex, so I knew I was in for an adventure from the start.

I started by buying a pink zentai from ebay, which was a lovely rosy pink in the stock photo but turned out to be eyebleedingly fluorescent pink instead. I tried overdyeing it with pink and purple, but that didn't work at all, so I had to strip the color with dye remover (which smells horrendous, oh my god) and start from scratch. That bastard wound up in the dye bath six times before I was happy with the color.

Next, I put the suit on my very patient friend who's close to my size and drew on the lines where the light pink was supposed to go using a disappearing fabric marker. I cut out the areas with seam allowance and used the cut pieces as pattern pieces to cut and sew in the light pink. It was definitely a challenge and I wound up resewing a bunch of stuff, but I eventually got it done. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but I sure don't know it.

I vectored the symbol in Flexi-Sign Pro and printed it on printable canvas, sealed it with Fray-Check, and stuck it on my chest with fashion tape. I'm not quite sure how to get it to stay on since it's non-stretchy fabric smack dab in the middle of spandex, so for now I just tape it on.

The boot covers were trial and error, and the cape is made from one of the legs that I cut off of the zentai. Earrings are cheapo plastic that I sanded and painted.
Personal Thoughts:
Oh, Atom Eve. Why are you so awesome?

...and so very, very pink? I feel like a bottle of Pepto Bismol threw up on me.

One of the coolest things I've gotten to do with this costume is meet both Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley and have them sign my cape. I'm sure I made a total idiot of myself with both of them, but oh well. I'm always really happy when someone recognizes me as Atom Eve because a lot of the time people assume I'm an original character, haha. There needs to be more Invincible cosplay in the world!
