About this Costume
Construction Details:
I first made a Lum costume back in late 2001 to wear at Katsucon 2002. Seeing as how I'm ancient but have (hopefully) improved my costuming since then, I decided to make this slightly different version a decade later. Truthfully, most of the construction is the same as my old costume. I used fleece for the bikini, but rather than draw the stripes on like I did before, I cut all of them out of felt. They're simply glued on, and I tried to match the artwork as much as possible.
The old costume was hand sewn, because I didn't have a machine back then. This is of course machine sewn, and definitely made the process a lot easier! I basically just patterned the panties off a pair I own, and covered an old bra for the top. I removed the pre-existing straps and replaced them with clear straps. The boots are covers made specifically for an old pair of knee high gogo boots that have seen better days. I did change up the way I did the horns, because my old ones were crap. I sculpted these out of Model Magic and painted them, then attached them to a clear headband, which is covered by the wig.
Lum has cute elf ears, but my old pair are tragically orange from my Arisia Rrab costume, so I needed new ones in a pinch. The local party store had horrendous BRIGHT RED ones that covered the entire ear, but they cost $2 so I made it work! I cut them up to make them fit, then painted them to skin tone!
Personal Thoughts:
I'm pretty sure some dude took my picture and then called me Cheetara.
Wig Details
Wig Brand
Wig Name
Long Curly without Bangs
Styling Time
1 hour
Styling Notes
The wig was SUPER curly when I got it, and it killed me to straighten it even a little bit, but I basically just ran a flat iron through it on a low setting to straighten it out a little bit while keeping most of the body. It already came with the amazing bouffant, and I just had to trim the bangs a bit.
