About this Costume
- Construction Details:
The jacket & pencil skirt & black undershirt & armband are cotton blend. Ideally I would have liked to make it out of suiting, but I couldn't find red suiting bright enough to be accurate to the art. The scarf is nylon blend. The gloves are purchased & beret was bought & I added the details on it. The costume has SO much bias tape. I'd love to never sew another stitch in bias tape for the rest of the year.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I'm really not happy with the jacket. It has so many details in it & I managed to have issues with every single part of it. The way it fell & rested wasn't quite right & the sleeves had a lot of issues as well. I can't count the number of times I took out stitches & re-did things. I don't recall EVER having so many issues with a costume before. Something as simple as a fitted jacket shouldn't have given me those kinds of issues. After working with it for a few weeks I finally came to the conclusion that the jacket was cursed & was just happy to be able to mostly fix some of the problems it had. After wearing the whole outfit together with the wig, shoes, beret etc. it makes me feel better to see that the entire costume doesn't look as bad as I was worried it would.
