About this Costume
- Construction Details:
I have very few pictures of this, but very fond memories! My friends and I were attending a local sci-fi convention called Novacon in 1998, and we were on a huge Ghostbusters kick so we wanted to dress up as female versions. There were four of us, so we each picked a Ghostbuster to represent. I was Ray! I love my trap! I made all the patches for our uniforms out of felt, and the night before the con we were throwing together various weapons and hanging them over my porch railing to spray paint. I think my trap was made out of a tissue box, some broken headphones and a toilet paper roll. Those were the days!
The uniforms are men-sized large Exxon uniforms that had belonged to my uncle when he worked for my grandfather's gas station maaaaaaany years prior. We somehow fit our tiny teenage selves into them!
- Personal Thoughts:
- We performed our own version of the "commercial" from Ghostbusters 2 at the convention masquerade. We even had "free balloons for the kids!" It got a great crowd reaction! Then that night during the dance (because this con always had an after-hours dance) they played the Ghostbusters theme song and the crowd made us get up on stage and dance to it. XD
