About this Costume
Construction Details:
The shoulder pauldrons and cod piece were carved out of pink insulation foam and coated in epoxy resin for strength. The helmet (Stanley) and the breast plate were created by spraying spray foam onto wire forms, they were carved to shape and model magic was used to add details. The gems were cast in resin and the crest on the breast plate was made with foamies. Wings were made with copper wire and felt. The feathers were painted to appear blood spattered and then were glued on. They attach to the breastplate in the back, they are a lot lighter then it appeared. The scythe was made using MDF that was engraved using a router and a dowel rod. It unscrews for easy(er) transport.
Personal Thoughts:
This costume was a long time in the making. I started a version of it back in 2005 but never liked how it turned out so I kept pushing it back and remaking pieces until I finally achieved the look I wanted. I made my sister an Ocarina costume so that we could run around together. It is a fun - but not very comfortable costume.
