Cosplayer Kotodama > Costume of Filicia Heideman (So Ra No Wo To)
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Usually, I'm not a huge fan of war era anime... but the friend who got me into the series mentioned to me that it was a lot like a mix of Haibane Renmei and K-On! That immediately sold me. I watched it and absolutely loved the series. If you haven't seen it yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO RIGHT NOW!!!
I didn't originally plan to do this costume. I originally planned to cosplay the outfit Filicia wore in the opening theme for Fanime, but a friend got permission to shoot at a millitary museum, so I couldn't pass up the chance! (Thank you so much for setting it up, Constance!) I got news of the shoot on Tuesday, sent my friend Rayna who was cosplaying as Noel to get all the material since I still had class during the week, and started immediately after my class on Thursday. OFFICIAL START OF SPRING BREAK!!! We worked like crazy sweatshop workers until the shoot on Saturday afternoon. It turned my room into a giant fabric explosion.
As I earlier mentioned, me and my friend Rayna set up a list of stuff we needed to get Tuesday night, and she got them all the day after in LA's Fashion District. We couldn't find a heavier weight cotton for the uniform, so we ended up using poly cotton. It was quite inexpensive though, so I didn't mind. XD;; The wig was reused from an old cosplay. I think I look sorta like Mugi from K-On! with glasses.
The location for the shoot was great, despite not being able to get into the vehicles. We found a cannon that looked a bit like the Takemikazuchi in the anime. All the tanks and stuff there also really did look like they were from a past era. (Cause well...they were) It was PERFECT!!! We got some awesome shots of Noel there. XD We were shooting with a Hetalia group~ a friend kept on calling us Mini-Germany. XD It was really cute!
I wanna thank the AWESOME photographers that showed up to the shoot: Eric Ng, Raul Sandoval, Abbott Wang, Minh, Ceasar, and there's one more~ I'm sorry I don't remember your name!!! T___T
Also, thank you Constance for inviting us, and to all the Hetalia cosplayers who went. You guys are hillarious!
