About this Costume
Construction Details:
Ah, the grand remake... First made this costume in 2007 and it was pretty special to say the least (do I even have pictures of that version on here?) I really wanted to do Etna justice, so I've been remaking everything. The last things to go are the wings & tail and that accursed wig. The only things that will remain original from the 2007 version are some of the buckles, the bracelets (repainted) and the zipper from the top. The gloves are my second finished attempt at making gloves so uh... ignore them up close. They're made out of two pairs of leggings to match the thigh highs. The ring is actually metal now--my boyfriend got it chromed for me at his old work. It unhooks from the collar so I can reuse it for D2 Etna. Top, straps and skirt were all made out of some random scraps of upholstery vinyl a friend gave to me. It's only vaguely stretchy but pretty soft. I was really grateful and happy with it! The skirt has a hidden zipper, which is the same as my 2007 design, only pulled off much better this time. I think that's the part I'm happiest about with this. Shoes--(the base were a gift from Elycium) are painted to match the artwork with a dark heel and glowing eyes rather than just an outline as I originally had done.
Personal Thoughts:
I've come to realize I'm never really gonna be happy with this costume--there's always going to be something... I won't give up! I really want a new wig (AGAIN.) I want to make latex wings & a tail, and if I didn't hate, hate, hate sewing that material so much, and it wasn't such a pain to find, I would want to remake the gloves because they really look awful. Hehe, but it's all worth it at a con when someone is just happy to see Etna. :) Now bring me a delicious dessert!
