About this Costume
Construction Details:
A while back, my friend, Suzanami, cosplayed Fuu from this illustration, and mentioned that I should cosplay one of the other two girls with her someday. I hadn't read/watched Rayearth before but she got me really curious and I bought the first two manga. And then I quickly ordered the rest of them, marathoned the series, and bought some artbooks XD I really have NEVER in my life fallen for a series so quickly! I really grew attached to all the girls, but especially Hika^o^ So, this cosplay happened!

The coat, dress and hat are all made of cotton sateen. The coat and hat are fully lined (my first real attempt at proper lining). The checkerboard pattern on the dress was entirely hand painted, each side took about 4 hours to complete (felt kinda loopy afterward, lol). The shoes were painted the right colors (they started off a cream color) and I replaced the laces with black ones.

The only real complaints I have about this costume is that the dress is really, really stiff so it's kinda hard to sit down in XD;;; And that it was really difficult it was to find socks that matched the red I chose for the rest of the outfit (every pair I found was too orange!) And I still need to get ones that actually go over the knee ^_^;;;
Personal Thoughts:
I'm really happy with this cosplay, mainly because of the work I put into the contruction and because I really love cosplaying Hikaru! ^^ I had the best time frolicing around with my dear Fuu-chan and Mokona and pretending the Javits Center was Tokyo Tower XD;;; Hopefully, next time we wear these, we'll have Umi-chan too >D
