Can we say, closet cosplay? I don't really do closet cosplay often (I guess I hardly want to cosplay normal clothes), but there are times for it! This was actually kind of hard, since I had to track down the plaid shirt on Ebay. I actually bought 2 since I didn't know which would be better. I did have to alter the shirt, since it was a Men's Large, and very gigantic on me.
I cut and styled the wig. At first I wasn't sure about the color. It didn't take me long to realize it was prefect and that I loved it for this costume. I was worried about styling the ahoge so last minute, but it worked out really well! I added wire to shaped it, and when gel wasn't cutting it, used adhesive caulk to keep the hair in place.
LASTLY. I drew various things from Detective Trap to use as props! You can mostly see the in-progress cover in the photographs (I LOVE COPICS), but I also made some regular manga pages. I think I spent more time drawing than constructing things for this costume! X'D - Personal Thoughts:
- I finally picked up the Bakuman manga a while ago, after a friend described it to me. Of course, coming from Obata-sensei and Oba-sensei, it's not surprising how amazing it is. It is, of course, of particular interest to me, because I've dreamed of being a manga-ka, and seeing how the industry works in Japan is really intriguing.
Naturally I connected with Mashiro, the artist! I was that kid in elementary school who everyone would want to draw for them. Even now I work in an art profession, do illustration on the side, and hope to start a webcomic soon. I really hope all Mashiro's dreams come true!
P.S. It was actually kind of difficult to pose for this, because I'm left-handed! ;__; It's awkward holding a pen with my right hand, but I wanted to be accurate because things like that bother me... So during the shoot, I was awkwardly coloring my drawing because I was using my non-dominant hand, hahah >.>
I LOVE BAKUMAN!!!!!!!!
