About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Overall this was a pretty easy costume to make and exremely comfortable. I will write down the patterns I used when I remember or find them (I am moving so all of my patterns are in boxes and I was unable to find them on Simplicity's website) but they were each slightly modified. Since this was a last-minute costume some pieces are still unfinished, such as the ruffles on the sleeves, the earrings, and the necklace. I used the dangly pink and black heart earrings I made for my other Miwako costume and two short pearl necklaces in the place of the unfinished jewelry here, and I think I might keep the pearl necklaces since she wears a pearl and charm bracelet and they go well with the costume. The petticoats are one from sockdreams and one I made (again) for my other Miwako costume, four layers of white tulle in a circle skirt style with lace at the bottom of the outer layer. Since a bit of lace shows from under her dress and a thick petticoat such as the Sock Dreams one will show the world what is under my skirt in a wheelchair it is pinned in the back to reduce it's width and pulled down. The bloomers are also the same ones I made for my other Miwako costume and the socks I fell in love with while browsing Sock Dreams for the proper socks and had to use them. The belt is a strip of the same fabric as the dress, folded, stitched, and pulled inside-out. The bow is made the same way and it attaches to itself with velcro. Since it isn't very visible the next time I wear this costume it will be made out of ribbon that is a slightly darker shade of grey and a smaller pattern. The cuffs are simple bands made out of the dress fabric. Note: If you look closely while she is sewing right before fitting Yukari she pokes her left thumb with a needle and shows Isabella. While measuring Yukari she does not have a band-aid but in the next scene she has a bright green one.

- Styling Notes
- I found out yet again I'm not very good at styling wigs. Since I used her standard ringlet pigtails in my first Miwako costume I intended to loosen the curls, lower the pigtails, and braid them. In the end, I just put it back to the way it was, sans the snarls I made. The white cotton puffs on each pigtails are there, but hidden by the curls.
