About this Costume
Construction Details:
Made from scratch - EVERYTHING. The only exceptions are the shoes and the gloves, which I altered with the leather "IV" patch. The entire costume was created using a variety of different browns (to match subtle shade differences with shirt, pants, and cloak) seen in the anime. The shoulder star was completely hand-embroidered (my first attempt at such). The bracer and "IV" on the glove were completely made from fresh, raw leather that had to be treated, stained, detailed, manipulated into form, and have laces inserted (as with my bracers). That was a chore I endured under the teachings of my leather-guru friend of AnimeTailors. The pants were also sewn together to have the full crotch sewn in, for what it's worth. The two cords (with beading) that hang from his neck are attached, in respect to the costume pics, with a fully functional snap for holding them tight. The belt was also made from scratch using raw leather needing staining, a buckle, etc. The shirt lacing and bracers are also fully functional and the lacing is secured with grommets. Every hem is double-folded, as to be commonly expected anymore in the cosplay world.
Personal Thoughts:
This was my very first challenging, full-costume attempt and it turned out pretty good - especially when you account for lacing, leather-work, hand-embroidery, etc. which was mostly all new to me. The character's costume can be browns or black, as seen in the video game. The belt didn't cross as I wanted, but not bad otherwise. The wig was styled by Pockyprincessdarcy. Multiple older Asian males were at NYAF (sigh...) and kept saying "Oooh... Hermito... Hermito...," which was awesome to be recognized by niche fans. The show has been licensed recently and is a great watch. The anime is a spin-off of the PS2 Capcom fighting game. Hoohah for being the first!
