to be perfectly blunt, i have absolutly no clue on how to do Link's shield.

I've seen it made pretty well with a light wood and you cut out the shape and then paint it. I don't know how you'd get the rounded effect, though. Maybe warping it a bit?

Ahh... I just sold mine made of iron, Steel, and car paint for $500.

like you know how when water gets at wood it kind of warps (makes a curve instead of laying flat) Yeah, Sterling your work is godly but not everybody has that kind of money. I think wood would probably be the best way to go to try to make it cheaply.

my mum think im crazy enough already, she'll send me to the mental house if she sees me buying a $500 shield im most likley only going to be using it once or twice ^_^U

YUP! i should've considered wood for my boomerang when i cosplayed as Sango. I used carboard..............>.< now its all bent up. Ima newbie >P

I don't know about wood for that boomerang. I mean, a shield is traditionally made out of wood or metal, so that's why it works. Have you considered fiberglass/bondo for it, or paper mache?

Aren't boomerangs usual made of wood? >.< I could've sworn they were. The only problem is that it'd be heavy. The best way to go for weight and strength would be foam. It's usually super-light and comes in different strengths.

Yah, but they're also not usually 5 and a half feet long.

For my bet, I'd use balsa frame with fiberglass. That'll stand up to some punishment.
