Going to my first covention...and i think im just going to design and make an original costume...it will be in an anime-ish? style, but i think it's easier just to design it myself make it how i want to....i think its a good idea, but im not sure.
Has anyone done that before?

most certainly! if youre making an original design, be sure to have it planned out properly beforehand, improvising as one goes along is not always the best idea (trust me i know from experience XD) look at all the pics on acparadise home of original cosplays: http://acparadise.com/search.php
