Ingredients for easy to make type:
Wooden block 1" x 1" x 4"
Dowel 3" long x 3/4" diameter
Dowel 3" long x 3/8" diameter
1/4" x 1/2" slice of balsa
Hoop
Gold spray paint

Basically you just have to put all the pieces together.
You're going to need to sand the wooden block to get that nice )( shape that it has. Once you've done that, drill the center of it wide enough so that you can fit in the 3/4" wide dowel. At the end of that, drill again do you can attach the 3/8" wide dowel. You'll need to gauge out a place to slide in the little slice of balsa to be the key end.
The hardest thing to find is a hoop that will work for the top. Shop long and hard at a craft store, they should be readily available. You just need the right size. Worse comes to worse, you can just make it out of modeling compound and call it a day. Secure that to the rest of the key and spray it gold.
