OHAYOCON QUESTIONS!

I am fourteen years old, and will most likely be going to the Ohayocon this year with my friend. We plan on doing some sort of skit while there, and I have a few questions that I would love if someone knew the answer to them. xDD Alright, so here I go:

1) What kinds of activities do they usually have at the convention? They DO have a skit contest, right? And kids like myself are allowed to enter in it?

2) Do you need to have a parent with you at all times? I do plan on bringing an adult, of course, but I don't know if my mother would enjoy the activities we hope to do. Is it usually safe enough to have a guardian nearby, but not right behind you at all times?

3) You ARE allowed to have a bit of yaoi in skits, correct?

4) I'm confused about pre-registration. If we have three people going (me, my friend, and my mother), it does NOT count as a group, right? All three of us individually have to pay? Also... the skit contest is usually just on ONE day, right? So if I pre-registered, I'd be paying to go for all three days, but if we're mostly interested in going the day of the skit contest, would we be better off just arriving that day and paying at the door? Does it take a long time to get in if you pay at the door?

5) They don't usually do the skit contest on the first day of the convention, do they? Because the first day of the convention is on a Friday, and considering I'm fourteen, my dad is probably going to force me to go to school, and won't let me skip to go to the convention. =/ When will they be posting the list of activities, and what days and times they'll be doing them? Does anyone know this?

6) Okay, I simply feel stupid asking this one, but I'm a newbie and all, so: What's a dealer's room?

If anyone can answer these questions, please hurry and help me out! ^_^

1: You may want to ask the Convention itself, but I've seen a yes to be in so far

2: It's a good idea, Columbus isn't exactly the best area, and even so, about 60% of the people there are shady.

3: The refrences are fine, I'm sure no problems there.
but to be in any panel of "Hentai" related feilds, you must be 18, they will check for that in the noted rooms.

4: The "At Door" Registration takes only 2 minuets, but the line can be about 1 hour long. if you do it at friday later (If they are open) no wait.
I suggest getting there around 11:30AM to let the line die down. Have some coffee, tea, breakfast, there's a mall underneith it, you don't need a badge "IMMEDIATLY" unless you want to hit up all the panels.

5: It's rare to see Cosplay on Friday, It's usualy on Saturday to bring in the most people. Cosplaying is the biggest this during any convention, so why do it when some people can't make it. Check the website for updates on this.

6: you have to ask and find out everything in life. No shame in asking, everyone starts out.
The Dealers room is the "Marketplace" of a convention, you can buy lots of goods here, Dolls, models, DVDs, manga, and sometimes candy or promos (Ohayocon does not allow sales of food in the convention and dealers room)

Thanks!

Thank you sooo much, you are being very helpful. ^_^ Also, I have another question... if we do choose to wait around a while and check out the coffee shop and such... would we be fools to walk around in our costumes? Because honestly, we don't really care what people will think, but we don't want store owners getting mad with us walking around, so is it usually fine to do that? xD

It's a food court, and it's a set of stairs away from the convention. So it really is IN THE CONVENTION. Don't worry about it, with the thousands of anime nerds dressing up in costumes, you'll just be another person to anyone not in the convention. The entire block becomes the anime convention.

This is the food court

You should register online early for Ohayocon's skit contest as it usually fills up even before the con itself begins. If you are putting Yaoi in you may want to have the script approved first. Ohayocon is kind of hard on scripts and I have had yaoi references that will fly at other cons not allowed at Ohayocon.

The best suggestion anyone can make is for you to register on Ohayocon's forums. The staff at Ohayocon are helpful, and can answer almost all of your questions.

In addition to that, they generally post information on the forums before it hits the website, so it'd be a good way to get information early. (That and you can meet others who will be attending.)
