Why make it yourself when you have a sewing prodigy as a friend, family, etc.

Making cosplay...

Post by Panda_girl » Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:24 pm

I was just wondering how many people actually make their own costumes. Some people just get them commissioned, or buy them and stuff and i was just wondering.

As for me, i make my own costumes because its fun and it gives me a sort of pride when i say i made my own costume but hey, everyones different.

I wonder if there is already a thread like this. If there is, I'm sorry.I'm new. Have pity on my poor noob soul.

Yea, nothing really beats that feeling when you try everything on that you made all at once. It's a real great sense of pride. Even when it's not perfect, I think...You still created something..Which I think is really amazing. ^_^

True. Even though the costume wouldnt be the best one, i still feel a bit proud since i have made the whole costume by myself. Its so different thing than if u have bought it... Anyone can buy a cosplay outfit or ask friend/family member/dress maker to make one for u but not anyone can make one by themself...

I create all my own cosplays from scratch.
I started out having my costumes commissioned but that is really expensive!!!!! so I bought an old sewing machine at a second hand store and took a couple classes at the local fabric store on how to use it.
Now I can create almost anything I can imagine :)
It's a great sense of pride to wear your very own creation.
