Hey! I'm new to the forum and to cosplaying. This would be my first time in fact. I was planning on cosplaying as Boogiepop from Boogiepop Phatom at the next Ohayocon and had a few guestions.

I was gonna make it a 2 part cosume..1 part being the school outfit of Toka Miyashita, and the other being of Boogiepop that goes over the uniform. I was going to use a pattern for the shirt and pleated skirt, so that part should be easy enough. Problem is Boogiepop. I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to make the hat out of fabric. Also, how would I go about making the floating ribbon? Any other helpful suggestions are welcome! ^ ^

Here are a few pics for reference:

Also, for anyone who has seen the series...I wasn't sure what color to make the hat and cape. It seems to me that Boogiepop's is dark purple and Boogiepop Phantom's is dark blue. Or are they both the same color? It's hard to tell sometimes from the pics.

You can totally be cheap about that hat and buy an oversized top hat, cut it up and sew on whatever fabric you're using.

But what are you planning on making the ribbon out of? I would suggest wire if you're gonna use fabric/ribbon for that part too.

For the 'ribbon', since it's so thick, IMO you could make it out of plastic or something.. only downside is that it wouldnt 'move' like it's supposed to, but you'd still get it to stand up and out to get the shape.

BTW I wanted to do some Boogiepop cosplay myself (I love that series) but I had trouble with all the belts and buckles lol! Good luck! :)

I wanted to suggest using ribbon that you would have to make and making two sides of it and before closing up the sides, you put in wire on the two edges. You can bend and mold it whatever way you want!

That's an excellent idea. It at least means you can get it into the desired shape more easily!
