New cosplay help..

Post by xX-KibaLuvr-Xx » Tue Feb 05, 2008 12:22 pm

To the point. I'm going to a new convention in April but I'm without a costume. I'm choosing between Uzumaki(Naruto), Toboe from Wolf's Rain, or Tifa from FF7AC.

Naruto: I've already got sandals, eye liner for the whiskers and blue contacts. I can easily pick up a orange jacket from my brother and sew patterns on to it, as well with the fur. Thing is: I've got long brown hair with no idea how to keep it up in a wig(which I so happen to NOT have) -sigh-

Toboe: I just would need to trim my hair, which I need to anyway ^^;, and his clothes are pretty simple...and I'd just need to get contacts, if I wanted..

Tifa: Her costume is pretty easy and I've got tons of black+white sneakers. I could possibly dye my hair,as dark as it is already, or get a wig..my eyes are brown like hers and my wardrobe consists of a lot of black so it'd be easy for her costume ^^

- So who do you think I should cosplay as? and any help would be great if you could, as in where to get contacts or good material..

Just to let you know this is not to be mean it is to help you.
First what convention?
second of all you are (not to be mean) half assing your cosplays.
Third you are looking too much at the eyes and not the outfit...focus on that...
1. Naruto all you have to do is get a good hair net. You can get the wig from cosworx or cosplay magic
2. If your hair isn't right then get a wig it is usually the best thing to do.
3. Her sneakers are fake converse so as long as you have something along that line you will be fine ( not real ones becouse they are too thin)
she has a whit undershirt (with suspenders in the game) a black vest with a zipper going down the middle. and the bottom part is a short skirt/shorts(not sure) with a pleated over part on the back.

okay, um I know what they look like and I don't stress over the costume because I can easily make them or buy them. and Im thinking of Tifa from FF7 Advent Children, not the game Tifa. I'm not worried about the eyes, its just extra info.

Ok, that is not helpful because that is not what she is asking. There are plenty of people that mostly cosplay as characters where they can purchase or alter clothes that work just fine. ONe in particular on this site that comes to mind is Bulma. They don't look "half-assed" and besides that is the cosplayer's choice if they want to do something simple or cost-efficient.

If you decide to go with Naruto, here is a link about the basics of wigs. Read towards the bottom and she has a lot of tips about how to wear a wig, even if you have long hair:
http://www.katiebair.com/wigtutorial_wigcare.html
Now, as far as finding a wig, that would be pretty expensive if you don't know how to style one on your own. I would search around more on katie bair's site to decide if that is a project you want to embark on or not.

Toboe: I don't have a good site to get color contacts from, but sometimes they may be expensive. Possibly search around the forum as someone else may have posted a similar question.

Tifa: as long as you're willing to dye your hair-go for it!

FYI if you DO end up buying a wig, cosworx.com and amphigory.com have pretty good ones and they aren't too expensive.
