Obis

Post by chibinoeru » Sun Sep 24, 2006 4:40 am

I have only just started getting into cosplaying and I don't have a sewing machine so I will have to sew everything by hand. Can anyone tell me how I can make obis?? I'm hoping to go as Pretty Sammy and I need to know how to make hers.

This was the best picture I could find:

Can anyone help me??

Making Obis

One thing you might want to consider is making a regular obi first so you get a basic understanding before you attempt Sasami's obi. Butterick's kimono pattern includes a pattern for an obi similar to the design for Sasami's. One thing I will highly suggest is that if you decide not to use a brocade fabric consider lining whatever fabric you do use with interfacing. This will help support the fabric so that it stays full and upright. :)
