hey everyone, i'm seeking some advice of how to make the wand from Mahou Tsukai Tai. We've got a good stick and we're thinking of making the duck part out of foam board, but we're not sure of the other parts.....any tips? thanks!

you mean wood for the other parts like the ring and the funky triangle thingies...?

I agreee that thin wood would work well, and probably also stay together better than foam board. Foam board is great but sometimes it isn't all that sturdy. As for the ring, you maight want to scrounge around and see if you can find a premade ring. Sorry if this didn't help but I hope it did!

ok, my friends and i are struggling with our wands. bascially all it is is making the duck part balance on that ring thingie and attaching those yellow things to the ring, making it all balance on some little cone thing (see pic above for reference)....it's actually very difficult :? any other tips you guys might suggest?

you might have to cut the ring...
::looks at her dvd::
yeah... i would cut the ring if the ring and the duck thing is your problem
... i could commission them for you and a card for them, but you may want to just try your luck first! ^.^

alright, so you'd suggest cutting the ring part where the duck part is attached then? (just trying to make sure i understand well enough what you're trying to say ^^;; )

ok, here's an update on my wand construction. i just went to hobby lobby today to find some stuff and here's what i found:

a wooden letter "o" for the ring
a small wooden flower pot-like thing for the diamon that attaches directly to the stick
some wooden oval shaped pieces for the yellow things hanging off of the ring
some thick foam poster board for the duck part (we figured it would have been kind of hard to cut out wood if we used it, so we just went with this)

thanks for all your help, i'll post an update about it's progress!

yeah
... and about the foam stuff... there is some stuff you can put on it to make it where it would be murder to try and bend it... i'll see what the name is if you want... someone i know used it on her armor for sango... ^.^* it was sad though... it was so hard she couldn't sit without taking it off and it's easier to paint the foam board with it too.

well, here's how the final product turned out:

the little "O" was too small, so we had to go back and get a different one

the foam poster board works great! it was easy to just draw the features in on the duck after it was cut out, and then i glued the other wooden parts to it.

the duck part sits real nice on the ring, and when it was all done the final product just looked awesome! thanks for all your help everyone!

you could take some of those flat bottomed rhine stones for the sparkly parts, and get a glass marble or bead for the bottom. maybe use a finished piece of wood and take a flat piece of wood with a nail(i little thin nail) to connect the top to the handle part!
