Costume Help: Shia

I want to make the Shia costume on Pita Ten volume 2, but I have no clue where to start >_<

Ah, her signature outfit. I've made that one, and it turned out ok. I'd change some things if I made it again, but it was pretty good for a first try.

First, you'll need a pattern that allows you to modify the dress to be fitted from shoulders to waist (the bodice) but flared from waist to hem (the skirt), preferably into a full circle. Something with princess seams would work. Then you'll also need the flared sleeves. Some renaissance or medieval costumes have sleeves like that.

Since it's white fabric, you'll want to also use a white lining to make the dress less see-through, and the lining will make finishing the hem easier.

I made button holes to thread the ribbon around her skirt & sleeves. The rest was trial & error.

Staff: dowel rod topped with giant plastic ornament.
