Can someone please tell me how on EARTH you would do this costume?

I thought about buying a leotard *or making one* and dying it black.. but that's as far as I have got with that idea.

any help is appreciated.

You shouldn't have to dye anything; black and red are common fabric colors.

But yeah, a store bought leotard or swimsuit in a tank-top style would make a fine base for the costume. It'll stay up better than an off-the-shoulder suit so you won't have to worry about any embarrassing "wardrobe malfunctions."

Not sure how confident you are in your sewing skills. You'll need to add the red accents with similar stretchy fabric. Cut newspaper or scrap fabric versions first to test for size & shape.

Opera length gloves (the type that go high up on your arms like that) are available from a lot of different costume or accessories shops. Again, add your own red accent.

Pattern & directions for sailor collar and bows can be found on http://www.lynleigh.com/cosplay/ under 'tutorials.' Attach the front point to your suit with a large snap, and you're all set there.

A warning about the little bells: they're sharp and tend to cut through thread if that's how you attach them to your suit. Look into using metal rings (jump rings) instead of thread or dulling the little "loop" of each bell.

The rest you can figure out and look for patterns at the store/online. Have fun! :D

I agree with all of what mrs.tomoe said. The only thing I have to add is that the leotard part and the gloves looks like it's made out of shiney vinyl material, but if you don't think you are experienced enough to work with it (trust me, it's difficult), then you should just buy a black leotard.

The shoes are what I mainly why I posted, though. These are the closest I found, not quite as tall and rather expensive, but if you're willing to pay for them, then I belive they'll work quite well.
