What you might be able to do is look for some other fantasy/Disney princess dress patterns. I know they're out there (I've seen them in thrift stores, lol). If the pattern you buy looks similar enough, a few tweaks might be enough to make it look the same. If you're scared about it not fitting right...

Can you sew? If it were me, I'd find some really crazy-patterned fabric and sew a jumpsuit. I'd quilt some fabric with batting to give it body, and make the head out of that.

Personally, I think you can wear whatever you want to cosplay, as long as someone can look at you and guess who your character is. BUT it wouldn't be considered "kosher" and you might not get as much recognition for it, unless it's really cool-looking. (And you wouldn't be allowed to include the pic...
