Re: Kagamine Rin - Vocaloid MV "Knife" Sword w/ Pics
Painting this thing was the first time that I would use spray paints exclusively. Had a hard time taping off the gold parts, but it worked out well. Sprayed a thing coat of clear coat and called it a day. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/stabbityblkmage/SAM_1304.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/...

Kagamine Rin - Vocaloid MV "Knife" Sword w/ Pics
A little known project that I did which drastically changed the way I approached making swords was the Kagmine Rin (Knife) "commission" for Sushi Monster . Here is the reference art I was given to work with....leaves a lot to the imagination. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/stabbityblkmage/42...

Finished Monster Hunter Sword w/ WIP
Hey all just finished another sword and wanted to show how it was made. It's a very simple build but it has a lot of nice fundamentals that people can use in making their own blades. Here is the reference. Odyssey Blade from Monster Hunter. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/stabbityblkmage/Unti...

Re: Completed Jecht FFX Armor and Sword. Step by Step
So eventually I just did it the RIGHT way and I printed out the sword from the art, then traced it out onto my plywood. Everything on the sword was fabricated by me. The buckles on the bottom are sintra and the loops are made from plywood on either side. Smoothed it out with a ton of sanding as well...

Re: Completed Jecht FFX Armor and Sword. Step by Step
Added the same style of detailing on the forearm armor as well as the clamshell under bracer. The bracer would clamshell by having elastic on both sides of the bracer and having my arm slip into it. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/stabbityblkmage/SAM_0768.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums...

Completed Rena Grand Archer Bow.
I made a bow for my girlfriend. It was pretty simple in shape and execution. Essentially I just printed it out for patterning and proportion. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/stabbityblkmage/SAM_1613.jpg Then I cut out pieces of wood and glued them together. I didn't have a router so I had to ...

Re: The Armor Thread: Post questions here.
Just finished my first rubber cast. It's a fun flexible way to make armor that doesn't restrict your movement. Check out my WIP in the FB link below! It's some pretty cool stuff!

Re: The Armor Thread: Post questions here.
Our Monster Hunter group on FB has a bunch of tutorials for sintra on video. https://www.facebook.com/groups/258173517528375/photos/ The videos are towards the bottom, but sintra is a hard durable plastic that I have been using for the past year and I swear I will never go back to any sort of craft ...

Re: Prop costruction Help!
This really depends on the array of tools you have at your disposal. I had to make my girlfriend a Sailor Umbreon Staff (http://jfamily.deviantart.com/gallery/32342647#/d48imy0) which was pretty simple. I used a large doweling rod purchased at home depot as the base (pick a thickness right for you, ...

Re: Lambda-11 Legs & Sword Wing pieces
I second the insulation foam stilts idea, that would be a good bet! As for the floating swords I would opt to go and buy some clear acrylic from a plastics store. If there are none in your area the internet is more than happy to oblige you in that regard! By mounting swords onto the clear acrylic on...

Re: Longbow Construction?
I've never built a bow either, but I would approach it similar to a staff (since they're both essentially very long structures) for this I would probably either go an all wood construction (mdf so as not have to worry about grains) which is pretty straightforward in that all one has to do is cut out...

Re: Prop Help! Blazblue Murokumo sword
For something this massive I typically seal the foam with plasti-dip or bondo (I haven't worked out a preference just yet) then I apply fiberglass cloth and resin. This gives the prop UNBELIEVABLE strength since this is what surfboards and boats are made of. Now it looks all nasty since it's covered...
