You should definitely be able to cut the bangs into it. I'm doing something similar because I had a light pink wig lying around, so I'm just making an Utena wig for the heck of it, and then going to sell it in my artist's alley booth. When I do the work on it, I'll let you know if I figure out anyth...

Yes, I hate those lumps, too. But I guess it is helpful for when you're filling in the bottom for a ponytail or in a part. It folds into the needle nicely. I might just do that. I will keep looking for longer extensions, though. I didn't realize Katie did a Duo wig. I'll look at it a bit. I'll keep ...

Now you've done it, Loki. I must make you cosplay Anshi! More Utena cosplayersssssss... *snaps out of it* Uh... what just happened? I find my problem is that I'm really pale. Pale as a J-rocker. Well, at least it helps me for that aspect, but it's not too good for other stuff. Pretty much the only c...

Oh I love bangs. I was planning on doing some interesting things with them. I've been experimenting with bangs a lot lately. Pretty much since I started doing wig work. It's kind of hard to see the bangs, though, because he's got a hat on top of it all. That will be fun to try to fit over all that h...

Duo Maxwell Wig Help
Hey everybody. I have to make a Duo Maxwell wig, and I want it to be accurate. The problem is, the braid is a darned loose one. Is there any way to make the extensions sealed into the braid (like sealing three or four lengths together to get the braid long enough) without making it look bad? Or coul...

You're lucky, you sound like your personality is similar to a lot of anime characters. I'm limited, but the characters I do, I really love. I know exactly what you mean about the boobage problem! I'm still not sure if I'll do Integral because of that. If I do, I'd probably bind just because she norm...

Ugh, spandex, don't make me think of it.... Just then when you said Juri it got my hopes up. Then it crushed them. Sigh. There really just aren't that many Juri Arisugawa cosplayers out there anymore. There used to be tons. Personally, I prefer to use patterns because it's a way of double-checking m...

That's cool. I think it was the angle of the one front view pic. It made it look like more of the bangs were longer. You're lucky that people can recognize you from it. I always seem to have trouble with people recognizing my cosplay, even when it's directly taken from something. I guess I just like...

I think the colors look good on you. Maybe, make the bangs more messy or something? That could make it slightly more realistic if you want. I think as long as the design looks like the original, with the colors only changed, it should be recognizable. Good luck with everything for Ohayocon. It sound...

There are some tips for beginning wig stylists on Katie Bair's website at http://www.katiebair.com That should cover most of your questions. For curling a wig, you can use the big velcro rollers and a steamer. That works pretty well for me. If you don't have a steamer, you can use a blowdryer on low...

Wow. I feel honored. I really don't know that much about wigs. 0.o; Well, the layering sounds like it may work. I've found that if you make something messy intentionally, it takes some pressure away from little things like slight uneven-ness in the ends. Accentuate the uneven-ness! People will call ...

Since you don't have any reference pictures, what do you think about slightly curling the ends under. I think it might help it look finished. I don't know if it'd be exactly accurate, but since you said there aren't many references, you could take some artistic license here. Sometimes natural hair (...

Yeah, I do. But I'm a bit bogged down lately. If I did take this commission, it'd have to be all I did for spring semester, due to the complicated corset. For the body of the dress, I would use peachskin or moleskin. If you didn't want to use vinyl, just use something heavy. A lot of the corsets I s...

There are patterns that you could use, but you'll have to 1. do a test version and try it on to make sure it will be tight enough 2. make a second closure in the front so you can put it on and off easily after it's tied the first time. You could probably put that on the side of the central fur strip...

Uh. Pretty much all concepts for costumes are done like that. Just try to think about what it'd look like on you. Without, you know, being horribly pessimistic. The only really big issue I could see is the corset. It's really hard to make them well enough to hold most people up. You would need to us...

Ooh. I like the idea of the fur stripes on the corset. I still think the rest of it being white vinyl would be awesome, too, though. Fur is good for the arm things and leg warmers. I like the idea for the tights. I'm doing something like that. I'm gonna have a pair of regular purple tights with blac...

An idea is to take a print out and make a stencil and then tape it onto the person. Then you just take a good cake makeup mixed with liqui-set and paint it on. It would probably dry quickly enough that you could leave the paper on until it dried and then just peel it off. Or take it off when it's st...
