Thanks Dark_Tiger and glass_snow! ^^ The corkboard seems like it'd probably be the best bet. Thankfully I won't be the one wearing the costume, I'm just making it. My poor friend Simon has volunteered for the hapless task of being Al. We'll likely have a whole Alchemist Entourage by then, so hopeful...

I think that's kinda the fate of the cosplayer... getting poked, that is. Just try not to do it with sewing machines . I did that, and trust me, you don't wanna be sitting in the emergency room for 2 hours waiting for the docs to pull a needle out of your finger. I would suggest printing out picture...

The White Snow one really is the most impressive. That dress was beautiful. If you're not too experienced with sewing, though, I'd go for an easier costume. Unfortunately most of Himino's Pretear outfits are pretty complicated, so if this is your first time, you may want to go with something a littl...

Alphonse Elric - Full-body armor construction
Alright, so I've checked out the foam armor tutorials and all that fun stuff, and I'm planning on using a variation of it for the Alphonse costume my friend and I are making for AnimeBoston's masquerade this year. My question is, is it feasible to use bondo on foam? Since this is full-body armor it ...

If I were you I'd just find some really thick fusible interfacing and use that. You can find interfacing at any fabric store (just ask the people where it is). It's usually used in collars and hat brims and such to make the fabric stand up, or thicker. You'll probably need either one layer of REALLY...

I'd suggest aluminum flashing and rivets. You can buy the flashing for about $10 a roll at Home Depot, the rivet gun's about $14 and the rivets and washers'll set you back about another $5. Just make sure you bend over all the edges, or you're going to get really cut up. I used it for my Edward Elri...

Hajimemashite! If you want to insert a picture, type after it. I believe that should work... Just don't post anything too huge. ^^ Welcome to ACP! (PS, you might also want to consider re-sizing your avatar, it's a little too big horizontally.)

Alright, that looks easy enough. What you should do is find a simple dress pattern with short sleeves, and preferably a zipper down the front, as those can be a little tricky if you don't know how to make them. You'll have to alter the pattern, but only a little. The skirt is slit on the sides to th...

*deep breath* Ok... You're picking a really hard costume, but I'll see what I can do. Shorts/Suspenders: I'd suggest using black plether. You can buy it here. www.stretchworld.com For the Jecht symbol on his right leg you'll have to use fabric paint or acrylics but it should look nice on the plether...

I'd use plether, myself. it's fairly easy to sew and looks accurate to what you're making. And I'd agree about the eyelets, just make sure you get the tool to apply them also. I forgot and had to drive back to JoAnns to get mine... O_o The tool generally runs about 10-16$, the eyelets about 2-5$ for...

I've got the armor started now, but I have a couple questions about fiberglass resin if anyone has any experience working with it. I made the base for the armor out of paper mache, and it looks great but it's way too flimsy, so I bought some fiberglass resin and hardener. (Some of the people I asked...

Anyway, I just re-watched the ending and it seems to me that there are only two unknowns - The double-keyblade master and the blindfolded silverhaired guy. So, I'll assume you're talking about the keyblade one. As far as the costume itself is concerned, I would once again suggest the Matrix costume ...

I've read through this whole thread and I've gotta agree with everyone else - Hemuloki-sama, you're great with wigs. hehe ^_^ I only have one question... I'm going to get the white "enchantment" wig from Amphigory for my Sephiroth costume, but I have to make the parts in the front that stick up. You...

I would suggest starting out with a simple long jacket pattern and altering it. The difficulty is going to be with all the details he has on his jacket, it's going to take a lot of work. The Simplicity pattern for the Matrix costumes is pretty good (I used the one for Trinity's jacket to make my Sep...

Help with Sephiroth's armor and wing
Alright, so I'm planning on cosplaying as Sephiroth (Kingdom hearts version,) and I'm not sure on exactly how to make the shoulder armor he wears, as well as the one wing. Any suggestions? I have some ideas but would like advice from someone experienced with making this type of costume. Picture: htt...
