About this Costume
Construction Details:
There are numerous creative liberties I took on this costume as it was a pet-project of mine. I wanted to give the costume a "Highness" feeling, but still have the elegance of a Victorian nobility.

The wig was purchased on ebay.

The contacts were custom lenses from 9msfx.com and were quite expensive, but a great investment since I cosplay many light blue eyed characters. I adore them.

The undershirt was sewn with bell sleeves to have a similar shape as Alois' character design. I added several layers of lace to give the costume a more elegant-feeling even if I wasn't wearing the coat.

The bow is made as separate pieces and assembled together and decorated with webbed fabric, lace trim, beads, and a spider brooch as special touches.

The vest was drafts and sewn in a silk-dupioni, a black taffeta, and the small grey fabric as my shorts. I added the pin-stripes with simple scroll trimming and added beading as well.

The jacket was made with a stretch velvet that I embossed and dyed with polyester dye. I had to fuse it via under-wonder onto a tight weave broadcloth so that the fabric were drape right and wouldn't stretch out of shape when wearing. It was a trying experience, but I was able to make a long frock out of a stretchy fabric! The jacket is constructed with double inverted box pleats. It was a nightmare to draft as one piece, but it looks beautifully executed (even though the bulk from the fabric makes me look more shapely) I lined it in a simple red lining fabric. I designed and hand sewed all the beading onto the costume. I added glass spider buttons that I painted gold and trimming that I sewed purple beads onto to add sparkle. The huge collar was reenforced with interfacing.

The shorts were the most complicated part that involved a large amount of math and drafting and re-drafting. I found a character design of Alois' shorts that showed them with avery high waistband that buttons all the way up from the pockets. I took to drafting the pants and from that my hip-to-waist ratio is very different, this caused many difficulties in sewing the shorts. I did manage to make the shorts accurate to the design and function. I am very proud of the outcome.

The socks were purchased from sockdreams.com (I love them!)

The shoes were purchased from ebay after months of searching. I added purple leather laces and made the bows of the same material as the coat and added a few details.

Any other construction question please ask me!
Personal Thoughts:
Despite the fact many fans hate Alois, I think he has a lot to make him a interesting character. His past really effected his personality and his displays it in his mannerisms and actions toward people. I can't help but feel sorry for him.
