About this Costume
Construction Details:
The shorts are quilting cotton broadcloth; I made a brown pair (same Simplicity pattern as almost all of my other pants...) and stitched a bunch of orange stripes to them. The belt is more broadcloth, with a craft foam belt buckle. I had trouble finding a tank top that looked similar enough, so I made one using a cotton knit fabric. The coat is a faux short-pile fur on the outside with a regular apparel liner on the inside. The hat was free-handed and is made of upholstery fabric and lots of interfacing. I found the boots at a thrift store and added the white ruffles. The suspenders are from the internets. The biggest time-consumer on this costume was assembling the stockings. I initially tried using fabric markers, but not only did it take forever (seriously, it took about six hours to do one yellow circle), but it looked like I'd colored it with Crayola washable markers. I ended up going with soft fabric paint, which has some stretch to it. Since I couldn't really paint the pattern onto the stockings on my legs, I stretched them over rolled poster board and painted them on that. I then added the outline using a brown fabric marker. I feel that they're far from perfect, but aside from screen-printing or custom-printing the fabric myself, I'm not sure there are many other feasible options. Bonney's jewelry (haha!) came out of the jewelry-making aisle at JoAnn. I simply took a gold loop and clipped a small segment out of it. It's attached to my face with Spirit Gum.

Pink/White Mix

Acrylic Ink
Styling Notes
My wig is a Willow from cosplay.com and was originally a pink-white mix one. I found that way too light, so I dyed it darker using Honey Bunny's tutorial (which is here: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=57484). I highly recommend this method - it's very easy and straightforward, and if you do it right, the wig doesn't bleed.
