About this Costume
Construction Details:
XP this costume took me so very very long to finish, that I'm basically putting it on every cosplay site I have an account on. Not to mention I intend to put it in the D.Gray-Man cosplay contest! Here's to hoping I win, huh? I didn't win a single thing at the Kumoricon 2009 cosplay contest even though everyone said I should have D: not to mention that's the only thing I've worn this for so far. I really ought to get some better pictures of this. D8 the first time really wearing the entire thing at one time, my stilts got caught up inside my hoop skirt on the bottom and got tangled in the tulle on the outside. But I've fixed it since then! It was a nightmare, though, I almost fell flat on my face! I'm eight, almost nine, feet tall in this costume (if you count the height of the top butterfly wings) because of my totally awesome stilts. The mastery I've managed to get over those buggers is something to be reckoned with. I can dance in them, run in them, even walk backwards! The reason I did the dress so tall and so thin was because I simply couldn't find a hoop skirt large enough to make the massive bottom. So I had to go with what I already possessed, and then 45 yards of bridal tulle to make it even bigger. And of course, the tallness and stilts was because, quite frankly, she's like eight feet tall in the anime and that's the version I've always wanted to do. I probably should have cut more feather shapes into the bottom edge, but what I have pictured was already a good three hours worth of work. Not pretty. The skirt is almost fifteen feet around, after all. x_x come to think of it, the ribbon trains on my shoulder bow were both over eight feet long. They drug on the ground behind me unless I tied them up in a loop. I have a surprising amount of visibility in this costume. I just have blind spots. Really big ones. Like my feet.
