Construction Details:

The outfit was completely handsewn. I tore up the arm of the coat and the shirt so that my automail was more visible since that was actually the hardest part of this costume. Making an automail arm..now that is some serious planning. I wanted it to be as accurate as possible but I had never made anything quite like it before so there was a lot of trail and error. The version I use now is actually arm #2, and hand #3 because I get picky about certain details and remake things until I feel they are right. The automail is made of a combination of craft foam, styrene plastic, wonderflex, fabric, and actual wire cables. I have complete mobility with it.

EDIT 2012: Remade almost everything from the wrist up. Got rid of the fabric covering and used styrene to create the elbow piece. Some fresh coats of paint later and i was able to wear this costume again!

Personal Thoughts:

This costume is the most fun to wear when I have Winry around or most recently, any of my humonculi. Luckily a few of my friends just got into cosplaying it and so I was able to pull it out of its semi-retired state to get pictures with them. It's a costume that I don't wear often any more except to pull it out for something random and fairly comfortable.
