About this Costume
Construction Details:
The main fabric we used was this fabulous metallic denim spandex, which worked insanely well for our patterning needs! It's soft so it drapes well for pieces like Takane's jacket, stretchy which is great for the fitted pieces like Miki's top, and when interfaced/lined it looks just like denim, which was perfect for my shorts!

For the top I used a bathing suit pattern I bought YEARS ago knowing I would get around to this costume one day or another. I ended up really only using the cups from that pattern though, since the rest needed to be improvised to include all the crazy seams. The top was roughly 30 pieces before being assembled!!

I used a bottomweight fabric to line the shorts so they would be more denim-like. The shorts don't have a visible waistband, so modified a shorts pattern to have an interior waistband. The zipper panel in the front required some improvisation as well but I'm so happy with how it turned out!! Since my machine was simply NOT HAVING that fur, I carefully cut it on the grain so it wouldn’t fray and hot glued it all on like a champ.

I made bootcovers out of stretch PVC, the sole is built into the pattern as well. The cuffs on the boots and armbands were heavily interfaced so they'd stay sharp looking. The belt was made out of stretch PVC as well. All the jewelry was store bought … lucky finds!

Personal Thoughts:
This is my favorite of Miki’s MANY costumes designs, and I’m so happy to finally have checked it off my cosplay wish list!! I got to wear this costume with a fabulous Project Fairy trio, with Maryssaraptor as Takane and Barracuda as Hibiki. The photoshoot we did with Darkain at AX is one of my favorites I’ve EVER done; getting to strut around Nokia LA Live with our sunglasses at night made us feel like total glam divas, it was a blast!!
