About this Costume
- Construction Details:
Crown-Plastic headband with paperclay molded on top. Sanded down till smooth. Painted with gold Rub'n Buff. Details hand painted with red enamel paint. Sealed with a matte acrylic top coat.
Pin-Carved basic shape from EVA foam. Paper clay molded on top to an angle. Sanded till smooth. Wing symbol created from Wonderflex. Painted with Rub'n Buff and red enamel paint. Sealed with a matte acrylic top coat. Fabric and pin glued to back for attachment.
Cape-Altered pattern from Simplicity cloak pattern to make it more like a cape. Added extra fabric on neck and shoulder to form ''bunching'' effect.
Shoulder Armor-Constructed from a craft foam and hot glue base, covered with Worbla, and smoothed with a layer of Paper-clay. Details added with paper-clay. Sanded till smooth. Covered with Scratch-filler Primer. Re-sanded lightly with high grit paper. Painted with enamel paint and gold Rub'n Buff. Sealed with a matte acrylic top coat.
Dress-Pattern created by me. Used a stretch jersey knit fabric. Gold trimming glued on with hot glue. Dress closure includes Velcro and invisible zipper.
Belts-created using two shades of vinyl. Buckles are craft foam covered in paperclay with craft wire detailing and painted with silver Rub'n Buff.
Boots-Base is a simple slide on ''mule'' shoe. Worbla used to create knee detail and raised tongues. Base shoe is covered in fabric and connects to legging piece made from the same fabric to produce the illusion of a knee-high boot.
Sword-Carved with Exacto knives from 4 separate pieces of balsa wood and glued together. Handle is a wooden dowel. Raised detailing molded from Worbla. Entire sword was covered in Paper-clay and sanded till smooth. Coated with Scratch-filler primer and lightly sanded with high grit paper. Paints include red enamel paint, gold Rub'n Buff, and stainless steel Metalizer spray. Sealed with a matte acrylic top coat.
Sheath-Base is cardboard covered with craft foam, and covered again with red fabric. Beige and black paint used for details. Attaches to belt with jewelry pin.
Gloves-Stretch jersey knit fabric for glove and thicker non-stretch fabric for cuff. Hand embroidery detailing on cuff.
