About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Oh boy this thing. The base pattern for the collar, jacket, and petals was drafted by Jezeroth. I made the inside out of two layers of buckram and muslin and whip-stitched many feet of 6 gauge copper wire along the edges. Then I sewed the outside cover together and stretched it over the frame. I made my first bodysuit with a detachable hood/visor, made the elbow armor our of Wonderflex, and then painted the whole thing with an airbrush gun with the help of Yuffiebunny. She and I were coughing up blue paint for hours afterward. The icicle sword is a plastic rod with a foam base covered in rigid wrap. The shield is entirely made of stained glass and was my FAVORITE part of the outfit, but my dad decided to store it on a high shelf and it met a catastrophic end. As did the rest of this costume, when it was left under a leaking pipe in my basement. Luckily, I managed to salvage all the buckram and copper wire for future projects.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Originally constructed for a skit which never ended up happening, this ultimately became a horrible experiment in airbrushing and wire skeletons. Though it was very nice of Jez at the time to believe in my limited skill enough that I could make this look spectacular. Poor guy. Don't stop believing. Hold on to that feeeeeling.
