About this Costume
Construction Details:
I started by making a mockup of the dress pattern. Fortunately Barracuda found a pattern that already had half the seams we needed, which made adding the rest of them pretty easy. I test the fit of the mockup, ironed each dress panel in half to mark the extra seams, labeled the ever loving shit out of everything, then cut it all apart to make the final pattern.

I was VERY picky about fabric colors, and the two used in Takane's dress proved difficult to find. I ended up having to order fabric online. While I waited for it to arrive, I assembled the lining. I bought 2 yards of pink cotton but since I used some of it for the actual pattern I didn't have enough to make the whole lining out of it... fortunately I realized this early on and had the foresight to cut out (what I thought was) the alternating pattern pieces out of white cotton. This not only helped me better figure out which pieces attached to what, but helped me realize that I would have to be very careful about cutting out the proper pieces from the proper color when making the final dress. I normally overlock my seams even if I line a garment, but I decided not to do that on this project. Not only would that have taken FOREVERRR (especially since I don't have a serger) but I figured it would leave the seams really bulky and I didn't want that to ruin the sleek look of the dress. On the lining seams, I simply top-stitched them down so they laid perfectly flat.
Personal Thoughts:
shortest Takane ever hollaaaaaaaaa
