Cosplayer Pink Pariah > Costume of Sailor Moon from Sailor Moon
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
I used a combination of the Green Pepper pattern, SparklePipsi's tutorial, Cupcake Cosplay's tutorial and a little bit of my own ingenuity to bring this costume together.
There were definitely some parts of the costume that were more difficult than others (I had to attach and reattach the skirt to the leotard several time to remove bunches in the ruffles).
Chest Armor: Made with spandex with fleece backing, to give that puffed out anime look. (I get a lot of questions about the fleece not stretching with the piece, I found there were no problems taking it on or off). Puffed/outer spacey sleeves were just strips of spandex stuffed with batting.
Leotard: Spandex. It's all one piece! Easy to slip on and off (I hate sewing zippers in).
Hip roll: Two strips of spandex sewed together and stuffed with poly-fil.
Skirt/Underpants: Skirt is stretch poplin and underpants are spandex. I originally wanted to pleat the skirt but, later decided against. I like how the skirt looked without pleats but, rather, ruffles. The skirt is rather short but, I feel it is more screen accurate. I sewed in underpants too!
Shoulder rolls: Same as hip rolls; stuffed with poly-fil then stitched lines on to it.
Gloves: Leftover spandex from fuku body. I used a tracing of my hand with cardboard and stitched around it.
Glove rolls: Same as hip/shoulder rolls; stuffed with poly-fil then stitched lines on to it. Fabric was red stretchy poplin.
Bows: Stretch poplin fabric. Attach to fuku via industrial grade velcro. Used interfacing to keep them stiff.
All props were made by my husband. All pieces are 3-D printed and resin casted.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Sailor Fuku's: life's biggest deception.
