Cosplayer tokidoki Loki > Costume of Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Jackoftrades did a lot of the hard work on these. He drafted the patterns for both the jacket and harnesses from scratch so that when I made mine, I just had to work off his! The jacket is made from a heavy cotton twill (which I think a lot of people have been using, it's so nice!) and are fully lined. The patches were purchased off taobao. We chose to do a little bit of a fancy military button on the pockets and shoulder tabs just to give them a little flair. All the topstitching is done with a heavier upholstery weight thread to just add more depth. The harness is made of real leather and is all one piece. It took a lot of annoying trying and retrying for the fit. I was surprised that it wasn't actually that hard to get in and out of. The back plates are made with a heavier weight styrene that was heat formed and then air brushed. The leg mounts are also made of styrene and painted black. The pants, shirt, boots, and scarf were all purchased. I only needed to modify the shirt by putting in an extra button hole and button.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I love this series so much! And I really love Mikasa, a lot. I was really hesitant to cosplay her at first since she's a pretty atypical for the type of character I normally cosplay. She's strong, a badass, and mostly... tall XD But I am really happy that I went through with it because I absolutely loved being her! I can't wait for us to get our gear finished and wear it again! :D
- Styling Notes
- Like a lot of short wigs, this one did that flippy thing at the end when I first got it. It was also a little too long on me. I straightened it it and cut it. I also cut the bangs quite a bit and heat set the middle bang piece into place. I swear, it is the weirdest hairstyle. I had to work on getting the bang just right, or else it looked incredibly derpy on my face.
- Wig Review
- It's a really great little wig. It's pretty thick, and the fibers are really nice
