Cosplayer Terranell > Costume of Lucy Heartphilia from Fairy Tail
About this Costume
- Construction Details:
- Eggplant purple stretch sateen is in so many of my costumes, I figured I'd use what was left over to make my GMG outfit! (I of course didn't have enough initially, but that's another story.) I made an applique for the shirt and tacked on a silly tiny bow that's simply raw cut spandex. It's lined with the same material so it stretches evenly and closes with an invisible zipper.
The mantle of course is made from the same material. I cut out the crescent shapes and lined it with gold cotton (which is also used for the bias) then satin stitched the shapes with dark purple thread. The goofy white capelet is peachskin. To keep the pieces together, I ended up sewing the top into the mantle's back corner.
The skirt was a lucky thrift shop find from high school that I miraculously kept in case future Nell ever needed it. Thanks, past Nell!
For the boots, I made little toppers with bassy looking plastic buttons. My props, like Plue and the keys, were all birthday gifts from my friends at the con I debut the costume at!
- Personal Thoughts:
- Every time a new arc starts, I say "crap, Lucy has another cute outfit." I think I'm at like five Lucy costumes at this point, SOMEBODY STOP ME. (But don't really, I love her.)
- Styling Notes
- What a pretty wig this was! I picked it for the versatile skin top since I needed to make it look like it's pulled into a partial ponytail. The ponytail portion is one of their long clips cut to Lucy's spunky style with a ribbon to match the rest of my costume.
- Wig Review
- Arda's wigs are just a little big, but I'd always rather have a wig that's slightly too large instead of too tight. The fibers are the best of the line and the color is a perfect anime blonde that doesn't look too real or too fake. How did we live without Arda?
